Mr. Blahnik, what makes a shoe timeless?
I've been very fortunate, and I don't know why, but my shoes don't have a special time period. I don't design them with that in mind but it happens: timelessness. I have been absolutely gifted by that.
Do you think about the wearer when you design?
Always. A shoe is nothing without the woman who wears it. The movement, the attitude, the way she carries herself, that is what brings the shoe to life.
